Mums Trip

hi all you people and friends.

There is much to remember and new stuff to tell you too. Do you know what? My mum has been off again this time to climb up Mount kilimanjaro with a group of other mad people raising money for charity. I can't see what the attraction is myself. She has put a lot of pictures on facebook and they all look the same, people and a big hill. No furries, or other dogs or toys or anything. Just a very long hot walk as far as I can tell.

I'd be happy to go on a long walk with her in the forest at least we would meet friends to play with and we could paddle in a stream or get buried in leaves. Much more exciting.

Home at last

Hi to all my loyal followers!

Bet you've all been wondering where I've been.

Well I'm back home with my mum, and very nice it is too being centre of attention instead of just one of the pack. Although I do miss playing with Rory and flirting with Rosie. Anyway the cats had been having it all their own way for too long without me to put them in their place. I think you could say that things are back to normal now I'm back.

it is a bit more difficult to get onto a computer so you might not hear from me every day but don't be downhearted I won't abandon you! there is still lots to tell you, some of it from my travels and also of course the usual day to day stuff.

Talk to you soon!

A cunning plan foiled!

The rabbits were out again yesterday. Yet again, I couldn't get at the furry things. However, I made a plan.

When Aunty Barb started to put them back into the cage I waited until the first one was safely in and then I hid under the cage. Just as she opened the door of the cage to put the second one in I jumped in and landed right in the middle of living area. The black rabbit ran into the bedroom and I was just about to run in after it when Auntie Barb caught me and dumped me on the floor!

Just you wait, I will get one before I go home!

Another Arty day!

They all went out and left us today. So I thought that I would do some art. I thought it would amuse the others as they are shut up in their cages. I was very pleased with the results. Auntie Barb didn't seem quite as impressed, can't think why. She did seem very confused as I was very careful where I got my materials from and she couldn't work it out at all!

furries!!

Those rabbits were out again yesterday. I do wish I could get at them, I have tried everything. I nearly got my chance when Blue Stripes bent down to pick up the black one out of the run, I jumped up and managed to get hold of a bit of fur, it made me sneeze a bit. Blue Stripes told me off, put the black one in the cage and went back to get one of the tortoiseshell ones out. I rushed in for the attack and before I knew it she had scooped me up and dumped me in the green wheelie bin that Auntie Barb was filling with ivy from the side of the garage.

Rosie!!!

I'm trying very hard you know, they say you should persevere. I heard that if you lay your neck across the neck of a lady she will know you are being romantic, however I don't think anyone has told her, she just walks away. So i tried running at her and play nipping her ear - she got very cross about that. Then I tried patting her on the nose and she just shouted at me.

In the end I had to take my frustrations out on Rorys leg. he didn't seem overly amused.

Leads and Moggies

Ok, very confused, they are talking about moggies again, or rather about a particular one. In fact they said they were going to leads to look at one. Now I would have thought they would take a lead to get one. i know that a lead is what you put on a human to go out for a walk just in case they get lost or walk into the road.

Anyway, if they want a moggie that badly I've got some at home they could choose from. i'm sure my mum could spare one.

Rabbits

I've found out what the furry things are. At last there has been a bit of sunshine and the furries where let out. They have very long ears and hop and jump - they are rabbits! I really wanted to get into the run with them and play. I ran around and around the outside of the run asking them to play but all they did was rush about hopping over each other.

Then Big Boots came out and asked me to stop, but it was way too exciting so I ran faster. Round and round I went with Big boots trying to catch me, but I was too fast and wriggly. I was having a whale of a time when suddenly a was imprisoned, Big Boots had thrown a washing basket over me and I couldn't get out. He took me indoors and I could only look out of the window and watch those lucky rabbits out in the sun.

I will play with them one day!

Blue Stripes is Back

Today Blue Stripes came home from her holiday. I am very confused though, her stripes have gone! She said she could put some stripes in my hair. She also said she could put some gel in and give me a mohican. idon't know what that is but it seemed to amuse her so I might let her.

Big Boots and Lens man

Do you know what, I think I like having men humans around the place. They are quite happy to play rough and tumble and then let me sleep on them. Blue Stripes and Auntie Barb are very nice and feed me and make fuss of me but they are more likely to tell me off and send me to my bed.

My mum said she would bring me back a present from her holiday, I think it would be nice if she brought me a man to play with. I know they take up a lot of room, but I'm sure we could fit one in somewhere.

Rosie again

You know what, although she is beautiful I am beginning to suspect that Rosie is just a bit, well blond if you know what I mean. When she sees me she barks which is nice because it proves she has noticed me. Then if she sees me again like 5 minutes later she barks again as if she has never met me before. It gets a little irritating because most people then I'm unforgettable. Never mind, I shall persevere.

I'm Famous!

Guess what! I have just googled myself (basil the dog) and look what I found. Next have put me on the front of a suit for a little person. What a shame we haven't got one to buy it for. I must say it doesn't look much like me. Not nearly as good looking!

The Weekend

Its been very difficult to sneak onto the computer. The humans have been in and out all the time, when they have been out we have been imprisoned in the kitchen and then when they come home its been full on play time etc so no time for blogging. Will try to get you up to date now, the huntley beer festival was on again on Saturday night very very noisy, oh and lens man has asked me to tell you that apparantly Jim was there on Friday very very drunk. Dancing in the rain and forgetting the moves to Greased lightning. I don't know what he was talking about but he said it would make you laugh.

Blue stripes is still away don't know when she comes back, hope its soon. The rest of the humans kept going to Cheltenham race course to see a load of moggies. seeing as they don't have a cat I'm surprised they would want to go and see them. I can't imagine moggies racing either. I mean Rory and I race round the dining room table and can keep going for at least 5 minures before having to take a breather, but thats beacause we are dogs, cats are stupid and always change the rules. In fact the Auntie Barb said that there were about 3 and a half thousand moggies there yesterday. It must have been chaos. I wish I could have gone, I would have sorted them out. You just have to show them who's boss. Aunty Barb says that Charles Morgan is the boss and he had them all under control. She also says that at going home time at least two thousand moggies all starated thier engines at the same time and you could feel the growl as well as hear it. Sounds pretty frightning to me. How ever they seemed to enjoy it and at least they didn't bring one home with them, thank goodness.

I can do art

Bit of a strange day today, Big Boots came down really early said a quick hello, got some food ready and then went out. Later on Aunty Barb came down, gave us some breakfast which I ate some of, then Rory finished as soon as my back was turned(Iwill have to keep my eye on him as well). Then Auntie Barb and lens man went out and blue stripes came down. She made a fuss of us all and then her friend Steph came just to see me. but before long they went out as well. Blue Stripes took all the stuff that she had packed the day before. She said that they were going to Cornwall, I spect she wanted to take me with her but Kate who was driving wouldn't let her. The rest of the day was very restful (or boring)

Rory has shown me all about the benefits of chewing cones. they are good roughage (whatever that is) and you can arrange the bits artisically around the room making patterns on the carpet. Strangely the humans don't seem to appreciate this art. Anyway i spent some time chewing and arranging. i was very pleased with the results.

When Aunty Barb came home she went into a hoovering frenzy, first she hoovered the carpet (spoiling all my work) then she went into the garden and started hoovering the grass. She didn't manage to finish it as it started to rain.

Ooh! looks like some more people are coming to meet me! Lens mans friends Matt, Chris and Kate have come to see me. They didn't stay long, they have gone to the Huntley Beer festival. Sounds like fun standing in the rain drinking beer and dancing to a band. must say the band is very loud I can hear it indoors with the doors and windows shut. I have tried barking at it but it doesn't make any difference. Can't hear me I suppose. I can hear Big Boots coming home must go so as to be ready to greet him properly.

Walkies and furry animals

I was really tired last night. Blue streaks and big boots took me, Tara and Rory for a long walk in the afternoon. Charlie didn't come because he's just too old but I thought that Rosie might come, I would have liked to be able to impress her whith my running and chasing but blue streaks says she tends to wander off and get lost. I'm sure I could have looked after her. However, just us three big dogs went. I must say the grass in the fields is very high and if you keet to the edge there were lots of stingy things. Strangely, it didn't seem to worry the other two, they must be used to it. On the way back they went for a paddle in the stream, blue streaks offered to hold my lead if I wanted to go in ( i'm getting her trained you know) but I didn't fancy it so I declined. Had a long snooze when we got back.

I do like to rest my head on something when I have a doze. Lens mans shoes are just the right height and nice soft suede so they do very well. I have also found that i can snuggle up very nicely with Rory, but it does make me jump when he gets up quickly.

By the way it is very nice hearing mums comments, its good to know how much I am missed -serves her right for not taking me with her. I would have been no trouble. It has just occured to me that there are no cats here. i think some might be nearby because there is sometimes a faint scent but I can't work out where they are. But there is something else here that seems very interesting. There is a big box on legs outside and there are 3 furry animals living in it. They don't seem to talk dog beacause I have tried talking to them and they don't answer. I think my mum shouls have a big box made for the cats it would keep them off my back, and she could let them out when I need a game! If I find out what they are I will let you know. Got to go, Blue stripes is packing a bag, maybe she's going away and will take me with her.

Rosie

Where was I? Oh yes had arrived and met the other dogs Tara and Rory (I do like him, he will play forever!) Aunty Barb and blue stripes took me for a quick look around the garden, I must say that the grass at the end of the garden is taller than I am. I could get quite lost if my nose wasn't so good. Anyway, we went into the house and I met two more dogs but this time they were the same size as me which was quite a surprise. First was Charlie he is black and tan and very very old, he must be at least 12 years old if not more, I can't even imagine living that long! he is very nice but doesn't want to play much, he is more interested in sleeping.

But then I met Rosie she is Blonde and beautiful, a little smaller than me, she is a bit older than me but I like older women. Her hobbies are very similar to mine, for instance laying on her back with her paws in the air. Here she is and I think you'll agree she is stunning

So anyway spent the next 1/2 hour having a bit of an explore. I found a big bean bag which smelt all doggie so a lifted my leg to add my smell. Blue streaks saw me and was not pleased she told me off and put me in my bed. Only for a few minutes though, so not to bad. While I was in bed AUnty barb was unpacking all my stuff, when she saw my chicken she said it looked very nice and would do for thier tea one night. I think she was joking but will have to keep my eye on her. The house is bigger than my mums but there are many more paws in it so it seems very busy. Then someone else came in, His name is Adam and I hadn't met him before. I think he will be easy to train because I had him tickling my tummy in no time. He is a bit weird though, half the time he has a camera in front of his face, think I might call him lens man. Mind you he took these pictures for me and helped me upload them so he is very kind. Thanks lens man!

Just when I thought there was no more room for anyone else Steve came in - the first thing I saw was his big boots then he picked me up and realised who it was - I wriggled and wagged and he made real fuss of me. Mind you I had to wait until he had greeted the others first - can't think why I'm much more fun.

Later on we had tea but I wasn't very hungry, I drank my milk and thought I would save my food for later. Well when I next looked Charlie was head first in my dish gobbling it up - I thought old ones had no appetite, what a load of rubbish! Will have to keep my eye on him as well. Must go blue streaks says we are going for a walk over the fields now, will kep you informed - see you later.

Tired!

Well there is so much to tell you. I was going to do it last night but in the end I was too tired. So I will try to catch up now. oops being called for breakfast - got to go. Will come back later to keep you up with the gossip.

Blue Stripes

Well we arrived, I sat on auntie Zoes lap all the way, i nearly went to sleep. Auntie Zoe has nice hair with blue streaks and I like nuzzleing into it - I think i shall call her blue streaks in the future. this is what she looks like. When we got to her house Igot out of the car and met 2 new friends. One was tara - she is a collie and the other was Rory he is a big black labrador. He is very friendly and is happy to play with me. Here are some pictures of them.

Holiday time

Last week my mum told me that she was going on holiday without me! well I didn't believe her as she always takes me everywhere, (except when she goes to work because I barked in the office and the boss lady said I couldn't go anymore) anyway i forgot all about it until today when my mum started packing all my bed stuff and my toys into a bag and then she added my food including my chicken from the fridge and my goats milk and she put it all in the car. Which was ok 'cause she does that when we go to London to see grandma and my friend celia who is also a rough mini dachs like me. However, when we got in the car she started driving in the wrong direction!

Anyway, we ended up at mums work where I said hello to everyone (boss lady had gone home) and had my tummy tickled lots. I remembered auntie Barbara and auntie Zoe because they had come to my mums house and visited us when there was lots of food and cake. Mum said it was a garden party. It was fun seeing everyone again and they all said how much I had grown since they saw me last. Eventually all my stuff was moved into auntie Barbara's car and I sat on Auntie Zoes lap and off we went with mummy waving and looking sad.

Making Friends

I am making friends already!
